Building The Scripture Journey: A 17-Year-Old's Vision to Transform Biblical Gaming

Today, I'm excited to share something deeply personal—the vision, the plan, and the heart behind The Scripture Journey, an ambitious RPG that will take players through the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. This isn't just another game. This is my mission to bring high-quality, engaging Christian games to a world that desperately needs them.

My Story: How This All Started

I'm 17 years old, a Christian, and completely self-taught in game development. I didn't go to any fancy coding bootcamp or have mentors in the industry guiding me. Everything I've learned—from scripting in Lua to understanding game design principles to building user interfaces—I've taught myself through countless hours of tutorials, documentation, trial and error, and most importantly, a lot of prayer.

The idea for Seventh Day Studios came from a simple observation: there aren't enough high-quality Christian games out there. Sure, there are some Bible trivia apps and a few indie projects here and there, but where are the epic adventures? Where are the games that make you feel like you're actually living the stories of Scripture? Where are the experiences that could rival mainstream titles while still honoring God?

I couldn't find them. So I decided to build them myself.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters."

— Colossians 3:23

Why Roblox Studio?

Some people might wonder why I'm building this game in Roblox Studio instead of Unity or Unreal Engine. Here's my reasoning:

  • Accessibility: Roblox has over 70 million daily active users, many of them young people who need to hear the Gospel. Building on this platform means The Scripture Journey can reach millions of players who might never download a standalone Christian game.
  • Low Barrier to Entry: Players don't need expensive gaming PCs or consoles. If you can run Roblox, you can experience the entire Bible come to life.
  • Constant Updates: Roblox's engine is constantly improving, with better graphics capabilities, physics, and tools being added regularly. The platform is evolving, and so will this game.
  • Community Features: Built-in multiplayer, social features, and the ability for players to experience the journey together—imagine walking through the Red Sea with your friends!

But let me be clear: this won't look or feel like a typical Roblox game. I'm pushing the platform to its absolute limits. Every environment, every character, every effect will be crafted with the same care and attention to detail you'd expect from a professional studio.

The Vision: Advanced, Detailed, and Realistic

When I say I want The Scripture Journey to be advanced, detailed, and realistic, I mean it in every sense:

🌍

Immersive Environments

From the lush Garden of Eden to the harsh wilderness of Sinai, every location will be meticulously crafted with realistic lighting, volumetric atmospheres, and environmental storytelling.

👥

Detailed Characters

Over 100 biblical figures brought to life with custom models, authentic clothing accurate to their time periods, expressive animations, and voice acting where possible.

⚔️

Dynamic Combat

Engaging battle systems for moments like David vs. Goliath, the conquest of Jericho, and the spiritual warfare depicted in Revelation—all while keeping the focus on faith over violence.

🎭

Cinematic Storytelling

Cutscenes, dynamic camera work, and dramatic moments that make you feel the weight of biblical events. The parting of the Red Sea should give you chills.

Biblical Accuracy: The Non-Negotiable Foundation

Here's something I will never compromise on: biblical accuracy. This game isn't about my interpretation of Scripture or taking creative liberties with God's Word. Every story, every character, every dialogue will be faithful to what the Bible actually says.

That means:

  • Direct Scripture references throughout the game, with verses displayed and integrated naturally into the narrative
  • Historical research into the customs, clothing, architecture, and daily life of biblical times to ensure authenticity
  • Theological review of all content to make sure we're representing Scripture correctly
  • No additions or alterations to biblical events—what happened in the Bible is what happens in the game
  • Respectful portrayal of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit throughout

📜 A Note on Creative Elements

While the core narrative stays faithful to Scripture, gameplay elements like combat mechanics, exploration, and interactive moments are designed to make the experience engaging without contradicting biblical truth. You might fight alongside Joshua at Jericho, but the walls still fall because of God's power, not your sword.

Making It Fun and Engaging

A biblically accurate game means nothing if nobody wants to play it. My goal is to create an experience that's genuinely fun and engaging—something players will want to come back to again and again, not out of obligation, but because they're genuinely excited to see what happens next.

Gameplay That Draws You In

Different sections of Scripture will feature different gameplay styles:

  • Genesis: Exploration and discovery in Eden, survival elements during the Flood, and the emotional journey of Abraham's faith
  • Exodus: Stealth and strategy escaping Egypt, the awe-inspiring Red Sea crossing, and survival in the wilderness
  • Judges & Kings: Strategic battles, leadership decisions, and consequences that echo through the narrative
  • The Gospels: Walking with Jesus, witnessing miracles firsthand, and making choices that test your understanding of His teachings
  • Acts: Spreading the Gospel, facing persecution, and building the early church
  • Revelation: Spiritual warfare on an epic scale, facing the forces of darkness, and experiencing the ultimate victory of Christ

The Revelation Experience

I'm especially excited about how we'll handle Revelation. This is where the game gets truly epic. Players will experience the spiritual battles described in John's vision—fighting alongside angels against the forces of darkness, witnessing the judgments unfold, and ultimately experiencing the triumphant return of Christ.

The combat in Revelation will be intense but purposeful. You're not fighting for yourself—you're standing firm in faith, equipped with the armor of God (Ephesians 6), resisting the enemy through spiritual strength rather than brute force. Every battle will reinforce the message that the victory has already been won through Christ.

The Technical Challenge

Building a game of this scope in Roblox Studio is no small feat. Here's what I'm working with:

  • Custom lighting systems to create atmospheric, realistic environments that go beyond Roblox's default capabilities
  • Advanced scripting in Lua for complex game mechanics, AI behavior, dialogue systems, and seamless transitions between gameplay and cutscenes
  • Optimized assets that look incredible while still running smoothly on lower-end devices
  • Original music and sound design that captures the emotional weight of each biblical moment
  • Modular design allowing for updates, expansions, and community feedback integration

Is it ambitious for one self-taught 17-year-old? Absolutely. But I serve a God who specializes in doing the impossible through unlikely people. David was a shepherd boy. Gideon was the weakest in his family. And I'm just a teenager with a laptop and a calling.

The Road Ahead

The Scripture Journey is currently in early development. I'm starting with the foundational systems—the core gameplay mechanics, the UI framework, and the first playable sections. Genesis will be the first "book" completed, serving as both a proof of concept and the beginning of this epic journey.

This is a massive undertaking, and I won't pretend it's going to happen overnight. But every great journey starts with a single step. Or in this case, a single line of code.

Final Thoughts

The Scripture Journey isn't just a game I'm making—it's a calling I'm answering. I believe that interactive media has incredible power to communicate truth, and I believe that Christian creators need to step up and make content that honors God while genuinely engaging people.

I'm not waiting until I'm older, until I have more experience, or until someone gives me permission. I'm starting now, with what I have, trusting that God will multiply my efforts like He multiplied the loaves and fish.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for being part of this journey. Whether you're a fellow believer, a curious gamer, or someone who just stumbled across this blog—I'm glad you're here.

The best is yet to come.
